bunnywarez :: our led sign

While at the Sunset Scavenger Artist in Residence reception for Nemo Gould, M eyed an LED scrolling sign in the giveaway pile. Skeptically, we grabbed it up and took it home. Between conversations with my friend Boris who has a similar sign in his house and sifting through the communication protocol PDF, I was able to construct a custom cable as well as put together a script to make it possible to send messages to the sign over the internet.

Oh, hai!

Our sign is in our living room, which also has a rather large skylight. It makes for great lighting when shooting furry stuff, but also as a result of such fortune there might be glare on the sign. If this is the case, you can always try using a larger font like “full height” and “double wide” or check it out later after the sun has set.
